AEW Collision will be held in Huntington, WV, with the AEW TNT Championship on the line. After losing against AEW World Champion Adam “Hangman” Page at the September 20th AEW’s All-Out, Kyle Fletcher is defending his championship against Komander. Komander is making his return after a lengthy injury absence.
To start the show off, we get The Death Riders and the Paragon with Daddy Magic, cutting promos on each other for their six-man tag. Julia Hart and Jamie Hayter talked about their third match against each other. Komander discussed his match against Kyle Fletcher and his hopes of winning the TNT Championship. He is looking forward to facing his best friend, Hologram, on Wednesday, September 30th, after his win.
The screen behind him started to glitch, and El Clon’s video aired. Hologram appeared to have a headache, and as it aired, Kyle Fletcher attacked Hologram. He laid Hologram out.
The Death Riders (Jon Moxley, Daniel Garcia, and Claudio Castagnoli) w/ Marina Shafir defeated The Paragon (Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong) and “Daddy Magic” Matt Menard
The Death Riders controlled the match early on. There was a moment of Daddy Magic being in the ring with Daniel Garcia, but the crowd wasn’t really into it. Garcia quickly tagged out. After Moxley took care of Daddy Magic, they tagged Garcia back in to hit a Super Dragon style curb stomp for the pin.
AEW Collision Brody King Challenge
Brody King announced that he wanted revenge on the Don Callis Family and the Young Bucks for their assault on Kenny Omega. He said that he had a plan. He wants Josh Alexander with the Young Bucks vs Kenny Omega and Brodido at AEW Dynamite’s 6th Anniversary show on Wednesday night.
The Death Riders (Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir) defeated Rosario Grillo and Rachel Ellering
This was a quick squash with Shafir choking Ellering out with an inverted rear-naked choke.
Afterwards, Wheeler Yuta got on the mic and said that Kris Statlander made the wrong decision on Wednesday, September 24th, and the next Wednesday, October 1st, she would face Yuta and Marina Shafir. Statlander will be teaming with Darby Allin. Yuta threatened to kill Darby and drop his body on Mount Everest.
AEW Collision Backstage: Hangman, Samoa Joe, and Powerhouse Hobbs
Hangman Adam Page said backstage that despite how many times the Death Riders have been beaten back, they do not learn, and that since Shibata is out for a while, Hangman is stepping up in his place. Samoa Joe claimed that school was in session, and his new equestrian coach, Hangman, will run them down. The new PE teacher, Powerhouse Hobbs, will teach them a lesson in pain.
The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens and Max Caster) defeated The Swirl (Blake Christian and Lee Johnson)
Anthony Bowens and Max Caster are basically unwilling to work with each other, and the crowds find them unlikable. So for them to go against Blake Christian and Lee Johnson, who are supposed to be heels, had issues creating any heat. I think the point of the match was to show Jerry Lynn coming down to the ring to try to get Bowens and Caster to work together. After the Acclaimed won, the fans chanted for them to scissor, and Bowens refused.
AEW Collision Backstage: Mother Wayne, Kip Sabian, and Nick Wayne
Nick Wayne said that after his injury, the average human wouldn’t be able to walk again. However, he was not an average human, and he would be Christian Cage’s biggest nightmare. He was always one step ahead of Cage.
Tony Schiavone Being Gordon Solie
I don’t know how many fans recognized the old school NWA-style promo that Tony Schiavone did about the upcoming shows in Florida. He was dressed like and used the same cadence as Gordon Solie. One of the best announcers ever. It was great. He announced the big matches in the next four shows.
AEW Collision: Hype Video
A hype video aired for the upcoming AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champsionships,
AEW Collision Backstage: Anna Jay and Tay Melo
TayJay made it clear while talking to Lexy Nair, and they are throwing their hat in the ring to win the championships. Hopefully, they will actually be announcing the tournament soon. TayJay promised to be the first women’s tag team champions.
The Outsiders (Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd) and Dalton Castle defeated Cowpoke Paul, Corey Sparks, and KM
This was basically another squash match. The Outrunners hit the SOB elbow, and Castle hit the Bangarang for the win.
Mark Briscoe Promo
Mark Briscoe claimed he was satisfied with finally beating MJF. He’s going to get back to having fun with the Conglomeration, especially with Orange Cassidy, who has come back. He reminds the fans that while they may be funny that they are not a joke because they are coming for AEW gold.
TNT Championship Match: Kyle Fletcher defeated Komander with Alex Abrahantes
Don Callis was absent. Nigel McGuinness insisted he was busy recovering from the destruction of his painting at the hands of Orange Cassidy. Tony Schiavone claimed he was running in fear from the announcement that Kenny Omega was back next week. The crowd was wildly cheering for Kyle Fletcher against Komander, especially during his chops. During the middle of the match, Tony Schiavone announced that Fletcher had injured Hologram and that the match would not be happening on Wednesday, October 1st.
This match would be worth going back for a watch if you missed the show. It was the best of the bunch and was incredible. Komander won the fans over towards the end of the match with his work rate. Fletcher didn’t look like he had just gone through a war with Hangman Page.
Kyle Fletcher did a good promo talking about how he was offering an open challenge for Wednesday, October 1st. So Orange Cassidy stepped up to take that challenge and will be facing Kyle Fletcher on AEW Dynamite.
Tornado Tag Match: Eddie Kingston and Hook defeated Big Bill and Bryan Keith
This was a nicely put-together match by keeping people in the ring at all times. Eddie Kingston hit a Backfist to the Future on Bryan Keith, and Keith fell into the Red Rum from Hook for the submission win.
During the Tornado Tag match, Tony Schiavone announced that the 6th anniversary of AEW Dynamite would be a two-and-a-half-hour special episode on October 1st.
AEW Collision: Austin Gunn and Juice Robinson Promo
Austin Gunn and Juice Robinson talked about how they took The Young Bucks to the limit last week, despite losing. Jay White called them. He told them that they needed some backup. Ace Austin walked up. On TNA Wrestling/Impact Wrestling, Ace Austin had been a member of the Bullet Club with Chris Bey. So, he is just joining up with the AEW part of the faction.
Jamie Hayter vs Julia Hart with Skye Blue
Jamie Hayter defeated Julia Hart with Skye Blue
Skye Blue interfered a couple of times during this match, but didn’t truly help Julia Hart. The ending sequence was Hart locking on an octopus stretch. Hayter countered and powered Hart up into a tombstone piledriver for a two-count. Hayter picked her up and hit the Hayterade lariat for the pin. After the match, of course, both Hart and Blue attacked Hayter. This led to Queen Aminata to run down and make the save.
Jamie Hayter grabbed the mic to say that she was sick of them using numbers to their advantage. She stated that the only way to solve this issue with the Triangle of Madness was three words: Blood and Guts. So we are finally getting the first-ever women’s Blood and Guts match.
