Match Results

Singles Match: Marcus Mathers defeated Devious Cass (10:09 minutes)

After trading chops in the beginning, both started settling down. Everyone up in the northeast has been talking on and off about the teenager, Deviious Cass. I wanted to see what he looked like and how close he was to being ready. He has talent, but needs to work hard on his craft. Cass has a nice STF. After Mathers hit a German Suplex. Cass did a flip dive to take them both to the floor. Back in the ring, Mathers basically started taking over. He hit Cass with a super kick. Cass was impressive, deciding to do a second-rope Spanish Fly and then a stunner for a two-count. Mathers went for a roll-up for an actual nearfall. As Cass bounced off the ropes, Mathers hit him with a Superman Punch. Then a heel hook kick to the jaw. I believe he did a fisherman’s buster to finally get a pin.

Singles Match: Ray Jaz defeated Sal Mistretta (8:03 minutes)

The commentators, especially Veda Scott, were really good for this show. One of them talked about how Mistretta has been around the GCW/JCW circuit this year and how he was a football player. Right at the bell, Sal charged at Jaz, but Jaz leapfrogged him and got a quick rollup. This set the pace for the match. Towards the end of the match, Mistretta hit a Jackhammer slam for a nearfall. Then he went for a spear. Jaz caught Mistretta’s head and rolled him. There was a quick backslide for a two-count. Jaz ended up tapping Mistretta out to end the match. It was a pretty good match.

Singles Match: Alec Price defeated Juri Underwood (12:36 minutes)

I couldn’t get into this match at all. I’m not sure why. I have been impressed with Alec Price in the past, but not too much with this one. Both men had some unbelievable moves, but I’m not sure that they got me into the match. Underwood had a very good twisting neckbreaker for a two-count. Afterwards, they traded forearm strikes. Finally, Price hit him with some European uppercuts. Later, Price hit a Rebound Lariat from the ropes, then dove to the floor. After getting back in the ring, Price hit his springboard 720 DDT for the pin.

Singles Match: Jordan Oliver defeated Gabby Forza (12:31 minutes)

I wasn’t sure this match could be believable. Jordan Oliver towered over Gabby Forza. However, I noted from the bell that it seemed like Forza could keep up with her athleticism and smarts. Whoever laid out this match took their styles and movements into account. For instance, when Forza hit Oliver with a clothesline…because he was on his knees. It was the little things like that. It made the match.

Towards the end of the match, we saw Forza use her power to hit a spear. She attempted to set up a Bulldog Powerslam. However, Oliver fought out of it. He hit a second-rope faceplant with the crowd booing him. They were getting behind Forze for the win. But it was not meant to be. Oliver hit an Acid Kick, then the Razor’s Edge faceplant for the pin. I think he calls it an Acid Bomb. Both commentators mentioned that Oliver is hardly ever booed by Jersey Championship Wrestling fans, but tonight, they weren’t totally behind him. Oliver showed his endorsement to the fans, and they agreed, cheering loudly for Forza.

Singles Match: Leo Sparrow defeated Cheeseburger (9:39 minutes)

I knew from the beginning I wasn’t going to enjoy this match. Sparrow came out with kale and spinach. Then, Cheeseburger came out with an actual cheeseburger that he ate throughout the match. I’m not into those kinds of gimmicks anymore. The ending segment had Sparrow getting a handful of kale. With Cheeseburger hitting a palm strike, he quickly moved to an ankle lock. The fans started taunting Sparrow to “just tap out.” They traded roll-ups back and forth. As Cheeeburger went back to his ankle lock, they then traded more roll-ups. Sparrow ended up grabbing Cheeseburger’s tights for a roll-up pin. The crowd completely booed this finish. I was right there with them and glad the match was over.

Jersey Championship Wrestling (JCW) Six-Man Scramble Match: Don Freeze defeated Daron Richardson, Jay Lucas, Jimmy Lloyd, Nyiem Brooks, and VinnyTalotta (8:59 minutes)

This scramble match was a typical GCW scramble match. It was action-packed and loaded with unbelievable moves, with non-stop action from all six wrestlers. The end was when Jimmy Lloyd missed a moonsault attempt. Freeze immediately hit a top-rope Phoenix Splash on him for the pin.

Jersey Championship Wrestling (JCW) Title Match: Charles Mason (c) defeated Terry Yaki (20:03 minutes)

The crowd was really into this match from the get-go, as soon as they saw Charles Mason walk out in a robe instead of his typical suit. I enjoyed the setup of the match with Yaki having won a match last week to face him. Mason, throughout the match, played up the fact that he was the Jersey Championship Wrestling (JCW) Champion and wasn’t going to be beaten. The crowd enjoyed booing him for his heel antics. This match was set up to show off Yaki’s athleticism and get the crowd behind him. However, it wasn’t meant to be. Mason hit a discus clothesline and a Tombstone Piledriver for the pin. Overall, a great match to end the show with.
